Career transition, Cvs, Branding and accessorizing?

Mathy October 2, 2012 Uncategorized 2 Comments

Career transition, CVs, Branding and accessorizing? Yes! You are wondering; ‘Mathy how can you put those four words in the same category?’ I know that doesn’t make sense, but why not?

The best thing about career transition is the transformation of your image. I have to say it’s never that obvious and it often looks like nothing is happening  during this period of growth. Transitioning can be a little painful but this is what I recommend.

  1. Assess yourself: start looking at your life experiences differently.
  2. Your whole life is like a book, imagine you are writing one (great material for cv)
  3. Brand yourself. Make a name for who you are and make an impression (Branding  only means to leave a Mark or a burn on something)
  4. Ask yourself what kind of Mark or impression do I want to leave in the world? What do I want people to know me for? Because people will remember you for your good and bad deeds.
  5. Then use all of the goodness from your life, work, family….to picture what you want people to know you as, on your cv (every experience counts)
  6. Your CV is your accessory.  A good accessory should leave people thinking ” Yes, that’s the lady in the red hat” “The man with a Colgate smile”.
  7. People remember you for those things and that’s the impression your cv should have.

So let me sum it up Career transition= Helps you leave a Mark this world needs.

Branding = makes an impression on the kind of person you are.

CV = tells a story of everything you’ve ever done (even if you think you’ve done nothing)

Accessories = a tool that compliments you

If your cv doesn’t do any of these, then come and have fun with me I’ll be delivering this knowledge and expertise alongside  the CVworkshops. If you like this post share it with your friends. And, can I get an  RT please. :-)

I'm afraid I'm about to remake a scene from Home alone
