Meet my friend Allie she shares an amazing learning curve whilst being a mum and working online, blogging and making an extra income.  If you’ve ever doubted what  skills you could bring to the table as a parent, Allie will show you how.

Over to you Allie !

“What do you do?” That is usually a question I dread. Why? Because for years I was a “stay at home mom”. I didn’t bring in an income. I cared for my children, volunteered at their school and was home cleaning, cooking and basically being a mom and wife. That is what I did. I got paid with hugs and kisses. There is no shame in staying home but I felt I needed more.

For years I struggled with the inner me. I went to college and have a degree, there is more for me out there. But then I also thought about how hard it would be to leave my children and home to commute to a job I may or may not find pleasing.

What do you do?

The bottom line was that we never really needed the extra income, so I was content with running the house, kids and family.

As my kids grew and were at school for longer periods of time along with activities, I again grew restless. Now I was thinking about the extra time I had that I could put to use by earning an income. I tried a few jobs around town but I confess, I hated all of them.

Then one day I went online and searched “online income”. It was worth a shot, why not research if I can earn an income from home. I would have the best of both worlds!

That was 3 years ago.

The first year was trial and error. I entered contests, I gathered points for literally pennies a day, I became an affiliate marketer and I started a blog. All in hopes that I could earn some money online from home.

I worked hours upon hours every week to gain maybe $5. It was very frustrating.

The second year I decided to focus on my blog and some affiliate marketing.

Focus was the key for I started to see some progress and get a taste of some money coming in. And it felt very fulfilling. But I still felt like I needed more.

My third year into my online income journey, which happens to be around January 2013, I finally put everything together to create a thriving blog and social media presence that caters to work from home moms. I love what I do. I help small mom home businesses market online through email marketing, blogging and social media. I know how confusing the online world can be so I dedicated my time and energy to guiding small business moms online.

I wish I knew then what I know now because my journey to online income would have been much quicker. But since it has not been and I have learned from many mistakes, I feel I can help moms not make the same ones I did.

“What do you do?” I don’t dread that question any more. I answer, “I help moms find their dreams online, just like I did.”

    Hey Mathy!

Thanks so much for letting me share my story with you and your readers!

I want to encourage moms to seek out their dreams and feel they can. If more work from home moms talk, more will know they can do it also.
